FAQ
Common questions.
Everything families ask before they book. Still not sure? Text us or book a free call.
How does it start?
With a free consultation and a short skills check with a Master Educator, who writes the plan and assigns the educator who delivers it. From there it’s weekly sessions — or a full school day — in person in Orange County or online.
Do you do full-time schooling?
Yes — it’s the core of what Edu-K does. Your child enrolls in an accredited online public school and comes to Edu-K for the full school day, with our teachers delivering the education in person — mornings 8:30am–12:30pm. Cohorts are small by design; ask about openings at your consultation.
What grades do you teach?
K–12, for both tutoring and full-time schooling. A Master Educator confirms the right fit at your assessment.
What does “British-led” mean?
Our teaching is led by founder Karuna Shah, who holds Qualified Teacher Status from England — an undergraduate degree plus a supervised training year, assessed against national standards in real classrooms. It is a license to teach, not a short online certificate, and every educator on the team trains under her to that standard: assessment before instruction, a written scheme of work, and a fixed standard rather than ‘progress at any pace’.
Do you support SEN, dyslexia, or speech and language?
Yes. Karuna is an SEN-accredited teacher with speech-and-language support training, so a child with specific learning needs is held to the same standard as everyone else — with a plan built around how they learn.
Which online school do you use?
Families choose an accredited California online public school — for example California Online Public Schools, a tuition-free public charter. Enrolment is free and open; it provides the curriculum, records and transcript. Edu-K is the in-person teaching layer around it and is not affiliated with any one provider.
Will my child work with the same educator each week?
Yes. A Master Educator does every initial assessment and owns the plan; a named educator delivers the weekly sessions. You choose the mix, and the Master Educator reviews progress throughout.
Does a lower educator tier mean a lesser education?
No. The tier is matched to the work — an Educator running spelling practice or subject drills is the right person for that hour. Every student’s plan is still set and checked by a Master Educator.
When do sessions run?
Tutoring runs weekdays, with evenings and Saturdays by arrangement for one-to-one. The full-time schooling day is 8:30am–12:30pm. Camps run 10:30am–2:30pm in the school breaks.
Where are you based?
Edu-K teaches on-site at Nellie Gail Ranch Tennis Club, 25281 Empty Saddle Dr, Laguna Hills, CA 92653 — 12 championship courts and a Jr. Olympic pool. Full-time schooling and group sessions run there; one-to-one tutoring can also run in the home or online.
