Laguna Beach is known for its coastline and its arts scene, and for homeschool families that makes for a classroom unlike most. A single day can include tide pools in the morning and a gallery in the afternoon. What many families want to add is the structure that keeps math, English and science moving at the same pace.

Edu-K pairs Laguna Beach homeschool families with experienced educators for one-to-one tutoring and small-group sessions, and offers a full-time schooling program, all built around your child’s pace and your family’s schedule. Edu-K is led by Karuna Shah, a British-qualified teacher.

Learning around Laguna Beach

The city’s own surroundings give homeschoolers plenty to work with. Crystal Cove State Park, just up the coast, is a natural setting for marine science and coastal ecology. Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park and Laguna Canyon bring in habitats, geology and hiking, and the Laguna Art Museum and the city’s long-running summer art festivals give art and art history a real-world home.

We plan the academic side so that this kind of learning has room to breathe. Written work, reading and math are scheduled around the outings, and we can build projects that link what a child sees on the coast to what they are studying at the desk.
